PerkMath Privacy Policy

PerkMath ("PerkMath", "we", "us") helps credit-card holders work out what their cards are worth and use their statement credits before they expire. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices. It covers the calculator at perkmath.com, the app at app.perkmath.com, the monthly PerkMath email, and the PerkMath connector for AI assistants.

Information we collect

• Calculator and monthly email. If you give us your email in the calculator, we store it with the calculator settings you chose (the cards you compared and the credits you said you'd use), your approximate city and country (derived from your IP address by our host; we don't store the IP itself), and the date and wording of your consent. We use this to send the monthly email and to link you back to your scenario.
• Calculator usage. When you use the calculator we record the values you enter (spend by category, point values, which cards and credits you picked), a random visitor ID kept in your browser's local storage, your approximate city and country, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. This tells us how the calculator is used; it isn't tied to your name or email unless you also sign up.
• Google Analytics. The website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects standard page-view and device information. See how Google uses this data.
• App account. When you sign in to the app, our authentication provider (Clerk) processes your email address and authentication identifiers.
• Financial data, with your consent. If you connect a financial institution to the app through Plaid, we receive read-only data for the accounts you choose: account names and balances, transactions, and card statement-credit postings. We use it to calculate which of your card credits you've used.
• AI assistant connector. See the next section.

We never receive or store your bank username or password. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid.

Using PerkMath in an AI assistant

PerkMath offers a connector for AI assistants such as Meta Muse, Claude and ChatGPT. When you use it, the assistant calls PerkMath's tools and sends us only what a tool needs to answer: the cards, credits and spending you asked about, and dates. The connector doesn't ask for a login, doesn't connect to your bank, and never receives your email address.

• We don't receive your conversation with the assistant, your account details on that platform, or anything you didn't ask the assistant to send to PerkMath.
• We keep a count of which tools were called, for which cards, from which country and by which assistant app, with no identifier that points to you. Our host keeps standard request logs for a short time for security and debugging.
• To get the monthly email, the connector gives you a link to perkmath.com, and you enter your email on that page. It is then handled like any other calculator signup.
• The assistant platform's own privacy policy covers what the platform stores about your conversation.

How we use your information

We use your information only to provide PerkMath: to run the calculator and the connector, to show your dashboard and card-credit usage, to send the emails you signed up for, and to understand and improve how PerkMath is used. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use your financial data for advertising.

Who we share it with (service providers)

We use a small set of service providers who process data only to provide their service to us:

• Plaid: secure connection to your financial institutions (Plaid privacy policy).
• Clerk: app sign-in.
• Neon: the managed database where your data is stored.
• Vercel: hosting for the website, app and connector.
• Postmark: sending the monthly email and account emails.
• Google Analytics: website analytics.

How your data is stored and secured

Data is stored in a managed database and sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). App data is restricted to your signed-in account. We store the Plaid access token needed to keep a bank connection active.

Retention and deletion

We keep app data while your account is active, and an email signup until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. You can disconnect any institution at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account, your email signup and the data tied to them by emailing us. We will delete it promptly.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from the monthly email using the link in any email.
• Disconnect linked institutions at any time in the app.
• Block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser.
• Ask for access to, or deletion of, your data by contacting us.

Children

PerkMath is not meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy
